Louis Vuitton SS12 Hair

I remember when Gossip Girl first came out about 4 or 5 years ago, I absolutely loved Blair Waldorf's style, (bitchiness) and her endless collection of headbands. Because jewelry wasn't allowed at school and my ears weren't pierced (wuss), I began buying headbands, ribbons and DIYing them until I ultimately got sick of them. 

But recently I've been getting back into hair accessories in the form of floral pieces like this Pearled Daisy Chain and this Gold Petal Plated Rose Headband which I wore to Lana Del Rey (I might do a post later) and I haven't taken off since!

Similarly to those floral hair bands, these Louis Vuitton diamante headbands are so beautifully delicate.

I really admire the detail of the nude bra strap-like bands. I think they're supposed to prevent unsightly lumps and bumps but they look so much classier than the usual cheap black elastic you get. I'm sure you can whip this up with some diamante trim and nude elastic, and then use it to finish off a soft textured bun.

Hairspiration

I've got a trip to the hairdressers in a month-ish(?), I know it's a long time away but better to be prepared right?

I've been growing out my fringe and "layers" for a least a year now but the other day I realised that I can't even remember what I did it for. It's so straight and boring; it actually has no shape. I'm really liking Lara Bingle and Miranda Kerr's tousled medium length hair here. But I don't think I do well with a middle parting, tried it, hated it (on me, well at the time my face was round...), got over it. But maybe I can give it another go? Also I don't know how well I can handle the chop.. I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

I also love how good she looks with highlights; I would probably look like I was still stuck in the 90s with that.

I know this was a bit of an odd post, but I think it's much easier to think clearly when you thoughts are down in print, don't you?

And just for DIYs sake, Miranda's cropped knit can definitely be DIYed with some snipping and some sewing ;)

Details to Hair

Headbands have definitely been around for too long so I'm excited that there has recently been more innovative hair accessories available e.g. turbans, feathers, chains.

Hair Chain; 5 Ways

I was inspired by this sleek adorned ponytail and since it's so simple, I thought, "DIY!"

You will need:
chain of any kind (I used a thin gold chain) (18, 23, 33, 43 cm)
2 matching coloured jump rings
2 bobby pins

Loop the chain onto the jump ring in order of length.

Repeat, but in reverse order.

Loop the jump ring through the 2 bobby pins.

And you're done!!
I found 5 ways you could wear the chain.
Here I pushed all my hair to one side and pinned it.

I looped the longest chain around my neck and wore it as a delicate necklace

As I was taking off my necklace, I stumbled upon this harness-like headpiece.

Here I pinned two sections of my front parting at the back.
And of course, you can wear it in a ponytail like the original inspiration.
Isn't it so versatile??

Chanel's Mermaid Pearls

So after ooh-ing and ahh-ing at these gorgeous pearlled-up hair-dos, I decided to make the easiest pearl pins ever!! 

You will need: 

Different sized pearls with holes

Strong & thin wire approx. 12cm each

String pearls onto the middle of the wire

Bend the wire on either size of the pearls to form parallel lines

And you're done!!

I found that these long pins anchor very well in beehive buns.

PART II

I also did the same to these turquoise beads

I think the relaxed turquoise compliments the fishtail braid.

Then I pulled the braid loose to create a messier, more mermaid-like look.
